About the Project:
A tradesman handling water, gas and electrical work needed one place to manage customer requests that were scattered across phone, email and Messenger. We built a mobile-first CRM running entirely on Cloudflare's edge. Customers submit jobs — with photos and video — through a form embedded on his WordPress site; he reviews, prioritises, quotes and tracks every job from a single dashboard, in four languages, with email built in.

Objective
The handyman was losing work because requests arrived through too many channels and slipped through the cracks. The goal was a single, mobile-first dashboard that captures every customer request — including photos and video — and carries it all the way to a sent quote and a tracked, completed job, while being cheap to run and trivial to maintain.
Challenges
- Accepting large image and video uploads from a WordPress site without heavy plugins or hosting file-size limits.
- Embedding a request form that looks identical on any WordPress theme without its styles bleeding in.
- Delivering reliable email confirmations and quotes without an expensive email service.
- Keeping a fully translated interface (Hungarian source, plus English, Dutch and French) consistent as the app grows.
Approach
Edge-native architecture
The whole app — interface and API — runs as a single Cloudflare Worker with a D1 database and R2 file storage. There are no servers to manage, it deploys in about twenty seconds, and it costs almost nothing to run.
Direct, secure uploads
Photos and videos upload straight to object storage using short-lived, signed upload tickets — bypassing WordPress entirely. This handles multi-megabyte files reliably and never exposes any storage credentials.
Self-contained embedded form
The customer form is delivered as one self-contained script with its styles scoped so it renders identically on any WordPress theme, and the handyman can customise its fields from the dashboard with a live preview.
Built-in quoting and contact
From a request, the handyman writes a quote and sends it by email or copies it for WhatsApp, and reaches the customer with one tap via phone, WhatsApp or email — with every status change logged automatically.
Conclusion
The result is a single source of truth for the business. Requests no longer get lost, quoting takes seconds, and the whole system runs on modern edge infrastructure with multi-language support and a comprehensive automated test suite — fast, reliable, and effectively free to operate.
